SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician’s main duty is to assist the pharmacist and Lead Pharmacy Technician in all areas of pharmaceutical services by aiding with the promotion and delivery of quality, safe, rational and effective pharmaceutical services to the patients, and health care practitioners of Mountains Community Hospital. She/he uses critical thinking skills and exercises independent decision-making as needed for the provision of safe and rational medication therapy under the supervision of the pharmacist. Furthermore, she/he understands and exemplifies excellent customer service, professionalism and positive attitude while maintaining high standards of conduct and protecting patient and workplace confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  1. Current active CA Pharmacy Technician registration.
  2. High School graduate or equivalent.
  3. 1 year or more hospital pharmacy experience or completion of additional hospital-focused experience from an accredited technician school.
  4. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrates good command of basic mathematical calculations with the ability to tech-check pharmacist calculations when warranted.

Preferred:

  1. Able to work all shifts and weekends
  2. Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB)
  3. Sterile IV preparation, technician order entry, Omnicell/Pyxis experience, unit dose preparation experience
  4. Familiarity with: tech-check-tech, medication safety and medication reconciliation process
